My name is Chloe Metcalfe and I’m a Bristolian graphic designer with a creative eye! I’m currently a second-year undergraduate at Arts University Bournemouth studying BA Graphic Design!
Graphic Design is a constantly evolving and growing subject. The modern changing world is something that really draws me in as a growing artist. The ever-changing nature of the media is something that I’m really passionate about. Design as whole is something I have always been passionate about from a very young age. I chose to study Art and Media Studies at both GCSE and A-Level. These two subjects have allowed me to develop as an artist and discover my passion for Graphic Design. Gaining a place at AUB to study graphic design was a dream come true and one of my biggest achievements!
Level 4 and 5 have been a great opportunity for me to develop my skill set as a designer using Adobe software, feel confident and well-rounded in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, AfterEffects, XD and more. An area of graphic design I have developed a passion on is creating imagery on illustrator such as landscapes, buildings and characters. This is something I was able to develop in and use practically in my motion graphics "A Celebration of Natural Hair". I also enjoy drawing on illustrator in my free time for pleasure as well as work. My motion graphics project was also a great opportunity for me to design for a great cause. Our video was created with the natural hair movement in mind, and this was a great experience as it allowed me to extended my knowledge and learn more about this subject area, as well as motivate me as a designer to create something impactful.
As well as being a creative person I am also very keen in keeping fit and active. I was a committed competitive gymnast for 10 years and an All-Star cheerleader for 3 years, competing all over the UK. Doing these heavily team reliant sport has made me physically and mentally a stronger person. It allowed me to develop the skills I need to work in a team and recognise the skills needed to be a leader and a valuable team player. Since giving up my commitments because of University I am a keen gym user to keep me active and healthy.
I am very keen to gain industry experience over the summer and explore working in a studio environment. I offer a friendly face in the workplace and a creative mind; I feel I can be serious and fun at the appropriate times to benefit a collaborative working environment. I enjoy coming up with new ideas and perspectives, but I also can take feedback and criticism and develop on myself as a designer!
I am excited to take on new opportunities, meet new people and grow as a designer! Get in touch here!
